Swedish Aid (Schwedenhilfe) Rädda-Barnen
This non-parties organization, their Austrian section was managed by
Dr.Arneus, had their headquarter in Stockholm and was managed by president
Margit Levinson. The Swedish Aid (Schwedenhilfe) Rädda-Barnen helped with
charity from private donations and state subsidies in Vienna and constructed
cooking-places for children in pre-school-age. In 130 such cooking places about
60.000 children between 3 and 6 years received food. In the first year
Rädda-Barnen organized together with the Swedish Aid (Schwedenhilfe) 238.000 kg
powdered milk.
Thus the children received daily 1/4 liters of milk, about the half of the
60.000 children received daily a lunch with a soup with meat or a milk-based
food, a piece of white bread, 20g buttercheese, a vitamin-pill, 15g chocolate or
bonbons. Each child could participate 4 weeks in the cooking-place, the average
weight gain totaled 1 kg. Besides the Swedish Aid (Schwedenhilfe) helped with
delivery of food for children's hostiles by the Viennese organization Wiener
Jugendhilfswerks (WIJUG).
