More Swedish Aid (Schwedenhilfe)
Besides the Swedish Aid (Schwedenhilfe) organized 6 tons of clothes and shoes
for Vienna, which were distributed via the welfare-office (Wohlfahrtsamt). A
donation of food and clothes was received The fireengine received working
clothes and boots, also construction-workers and miners received goodies. The
Swedish Aid (Schwedenhilfe) received 27 tons of cod-liver oil and 5.900 kg
medicines for Vienna and Lower Austria (Niederösterreich).
Worth mentioning is a packet-initiative by the Swedish Aid (Schwedenhilfe),
which was organized by Swedish unions. The shipments anticipated for certain
persons were transported with colons of vans by the Swedish military to Vienna
and contained also packets from Denmark. Because of the shortage of gasoline in
Austria the fuel even for the return trip had to be taken along.
