Help of Denmark for AustriaAustrians was helped by 3 Danish organizations, namely the Danish red cross, the organization "Rettet die Kinder (Save the children)" and the Danish Quakers. These Danish Aid was coordinated by Mrs.Gerda Möller and brought up their means from private donations and from subsidies of the state Danmark. The aid started at May 1, 1946 with a food-help in St.Pölten and was widened until end of July to the outlying areas of Vienna. There was food-help for children between 3 and 18 years in Vienna as well as in Lower Austria (Niederösterreich) also for calming mothers and old people. In the Vienna outlying areas were provided daily about 21.000 schoolchildren by the Danish, they received daily a robust soup with pork or bacon or a milk-based food with more than 600 calories. 1,000 food-packets were given to old people in Vienna until end 1946, a weight of 3 kg each. The Danish Quakers worked with the Swiss and Swedish Quakers in the Quaker's hostile in Vienna 17, Promenadegasse.
