Radetzky March (arr.Henk Freytag) - Composer: Johann Strauss I.Johann Strauss I. (father) wrote this march in 1848 in honor of Feldmarschall Radetzky, who conquered the Italians. It is an old tradition that this march is played at the end of the yearly New Year's Concert in Vienna (except 2005 because of the Tsunami in december 2004). I go with this tradition, so this march is the last recording on my album. Played by a rockband the march does not loose thrilling vitality and military elegance. That has nothing to do with militarism! Today this march is played in concerthalls - from now hopefully on rockmusic-radiostations too. |
Radetzky March (arr.Henk Freytag) - Komponist: Johann Strauss I.Johann Strauss I. (Vater) komponierte diesen Marsch 1848 zu Ehren des Feldmarschalls Radetzky, der durch seinen Sieg über die Italiener einen Zerfall der Donaumonarchie verhinderte. Trationell wird dieser Marsch beim jährlichen Wiener Neujahrskonzert im Musikverein als Zugabe gespielt (außer 2005 wegen des Tsunami). Ich knüpfe an diese Tradition an und daher ist diese Aufnahme die letzte des Albums. Gespielt von einer Rockband büßt der Marsch nichts an seiner mitreißenden Vitalität und militärischer Eleganz ein. Das hat nichts mit Militarismus zu tun! Längst hat der Marsch die Konzertsäle erobert, nun kommen hoffentlich Heavy Metal-Radiostationen hinzu. |
