Mozart together with Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethovern ("classical Trias") is a main composer of the Viennese classical period. Like the other main composers Mozart is not born in Vienna. The Viennese classical period covers the period of approximately 1770 to 1830. The transition from the late baroque to the early classical period was flowing, also the transition to the romance. The Viennese classical period developed in a aristocrats society at the beginning of the Enlightenment. Until middle of 18th century only court supported arts, later also rich nobles organized concerts or financed their own orchestras. Musicians had a broader basis for their works. Vienna changed from the regent city to the large city, which presupposed at that time 100,000 inhabitants. In Vienna there was the castle of Maria Theresia and her husband Franz Stephan of Lorraine and after his death Maria Theresia's son Joseph II., the great reformer. Among others his great deeds were a tolerance patent, rights-, property- and tax-adjustments and moving cemeteries outside the city-walls.
