Ludwig von Koechel catalogued all Mozart's compositions to an index called
Koechelverzeichnis / Koechel-index (German abbreviation KV, English abbreviation
K).
The first edition of the Koechel-index "Chronologisch-thematischen Verzeichnisses sämmtlicher Tonwerke Wolfgang Amade Mozart's" (chronological/thematic list of all tone works by Wolfgang Amade Mozart) was published by publisher Breitkopf&Haertel in Leipzig in the year 1862. The Koechel-index contains 626 works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Upon initiative of the Mozart-donation an old expenditure for Mozart was released again in 1877 to 1910 by the same publisher. 1955 until completion of the main corpus 1991 a new expenditure was released by publisher Baerenreiter in Kassel / Germany.
