You should watch out for ticks when walking in Vienna woods (Wienerwald). 

Where do ticks live

These little parasites, insects not bigger than a pinhead, are waiting in the grass, bushes and on trees. They smell sweat and jump on man or animal. They suck blood like a leech.

Ticks prevention

Consider a vaccination, in german: "Impfung gegen FSME" or "Zeckenimpfung". A doctor does it for approx. 20 Euro (price: 2004).

Ticks treatment / how do you remove ticks

Remove ticks with a small tweezer. Removals with alcohol or oil is not proper. Nevertheless visit a doctor, because there is a risk of encephalitis or other tick's disease. The same advice for how to get ticks off dogs.

Dogs and ticks

If You take a walk with a pet better look twice. Cats and dogs usually run through high grass.
