The largest orchestra, directed by Johann Strauss junior, was 800-man-orchestra at Colosseum in Boston/USA 1872. All tickets were sold. Tradionally at the New Year's Day in the golden hall of the Viennese Musikverein at 11 o'clock (MET) the Newyear-concert to salute the New Year is performed. Often works from Strauss are played. The last tune aplyed traditionally is the "Radetzky march" by Johann Strauss sr. The typical Strauss Waltz, the concert Waltz, consists of an introduction, five waltzes in tonal relationship each to another and a final. This is called waltz-chain, only the middle section is suitable for dancing.
